Significant Expansion of Our Research and Development Activities (R&D)
Why Humanoid Robots?
The requirements placed on modern production environments are changing: increasing variant diversity, flexible processes, and changing tasks are increasingly challenging conventional automation solutions. Humanoid robots offer new possibilities here. Due to their design, they can in perspective be integrated into existing work environments and take on tasks that were previously difficult or costly to automate. The decisive step, however, lies in developing reliable, safe, and economical systems for industrial use out of technological demonstrators. This is precisely where we come in. Together with two leading manufacturers, we are working to make humanoid robotics usable for real-world industrial applications. The initial focus is on handling and packaging tasks. Building on this, further applications such as material feeding for automated systems as well as simple production and assembly processes are to be investigated and implemented. In the long term, we also see potential for the use of humanoid robotics in areas that are particularly strenuous or hazardous to human health. Until then, the focus of our research and development work lies in creating the decisive prerequisites for industrial use: reliability, safety, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness.
